Since its inception, Piñol Cellar has stood out for its firm commitment to internationalization. Currently, our wines reach 24 countries around the world, a milestone we have achieved thanks to our strategic vision and constant efforts to bring the quality of Terra Alta wines to all corners of the globe.
The beginnings of Celler Piñol: from "Riojitis" to internationalization

When I joined the winery between 1999 and 2000, the domestic market was dominated by "Riojitis" and "Riberitis." Consumers were looking for well-known names like Rioja or Ribera, which made it very difficult to sell wines from Terra Alta. Far from discouraging us, this situation prompted us to seek new opportunities outside Spain.
Our mastery of languages and the growing demand for distinctive wines led us to explore international markets. By the late 1990s, we were already beginning to sell abroad, and in 2000, we took a more decisive step toward exporting, reaching 80% of our international sales compared to 20% in the domestic market.
Current distribution: key markets and diversification
Currently, 65% of our sales come from exports, while 35% correspond to the domestic market. Within the latter, 90% of sales are concentrated in Catalonia, with the remainder spread throughout Spain.
Our three main international markets are Switzerland, the United States, and Japan. We have also consolidated our presence in countries such as Poland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Australia. Among the most interesting markets is Malaysia, where, despite the fact that 60-70% of the population is Muslim, the Chinese and Indian communities appreciate our wines.
We're also working to expand further. Last year, we entered Cameroon with our first African order, and this year we want to expand into markets like China and resume operations in Norway.
Looking ahead: goals and events

Celler Piñol remains focused on opening new markets and consolidating existing ones , without losing sight of our commitment to quality and sustainability.
Plus, next week we'll be participating in Wine Week, a perfect opportunity to connect with wine lovers and industry professionals. We encourage you to follow us and learn more about our wines and our history.
With this track record, Celler Piñol reaffirms its position as a global benchmark for Terra Alta wine.
