Experience the Castanyada with Celler Piñol

A tradition to share. A wine to toast with.

Autumn tastes of chestnuts, panellets, and lingering after-dinner conversations. The Castanyada is one of those traditions that invites us to return to the table, to share, and to enjoy the small pleasures of the season.

And if there is one thing that shouldn’t be missing from a good after-dinner conversation, it is a wine that is up to the task.

At Celler Piñol, in the DO Terra Alta, we suggest celebrating it with two of the winery's most personal wines: Josefina Piñol Blanco and Josefina Piñol Tinto, two late-harvest sweet wines made from Grenache from 85-year-old vines.

Two sweet wines to celebrate the Castanyada

Panellets, chestnuts, nuts, and chocolate are, inevitably, part of this time of year. And they are also flavors that pair wonderfully with the sweet wines of Celler Piñol.

Josefina Piñol Blanco: sweetness, nuts, and tradition

Josefina Piñol Blanco is a late-harvest sweet wine made from Grenache and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. On the nose, we find hints of pastry, nuts, dates, candied orange, and honeyed notes.

Precisely because of this profile, it is a particularly interesting wine to accompany panellets, nuts, and autumn desserts.

A glass to savor without rushing when the time for after-dinner conversation arrives.

Josefina Piñol Tinto: the ally of chocolate

For those who prefer a sweet red wine, Josefina Piñol Tinto offers a more intense combination.

It is also made from a late-harvest Grenache and has an aging period of 15 months in barrels. In it, notes of berry jam, dates, spices, cocoa, and coffee appear.

It is an especially suitable option to accompany chocolate desserts, nuts, chocolates, or blue cheeses.

Chestnuts, panellets, and a glass from Terra Alta

The Castanyada speaks of tradition, of territory, and of returning to share around a table.

The Josefina Piñol wines are also born from this way of understanding wine: respecting time, the vineyard, and the origin to transform the Grenache of Terra Alta into two sweet wines meant to be enjoyed slowly.

This year, between chestnuts and panellets, the only thing left is to choose which one you will toast with.
